The  special edition “Year in Defense” interviewed Brenda Moore about how female warfighters are thriving a decade after the Department of Defense lifted the ban on women in combat. Moore said that servicewomen pursuing parity have had to scale a tall ladder with many rungs, going all the way back to 1948. Moore credits those and other victories to “changes in military laws and policies – largely by the a climate of equal employment opportunities for women in the broader society.” The article starts on page 20 of the special section.
